Day 11 through Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania to New York

I HATE TOLL BOOTHS! After Devil’s Lake we took the 12 toward Madison, WI. From that we took the I – 39 to the I – 90 and stayed in Portage, Indiana. The next morning, we neared, but stayed away from, Chicago proper, and skirted Lake Michigan on the I – 94 to the 80 to the 90 east. Just to get off of the toll roads, we drove through Michigan slightly north of the border and enjoyed rural scenery. It was Hwy. 12.

It was here we started singing oldie favorites like, “Oo -Ee – Oo -Ah – Ah…” and “Itsy-Bitsy, Teeny- Weeny, Yellow Polka dot Bikini” to pass the time.

Lake Erie, Pennsylvania.
