Day One: Canyons, Craters, and Caves! Camarillo to Los Osos, California

Farewell, Elik!

We said good-bye to friends, family, and pets. We also said good-bye to our new friend, Michael.

And, to baby Amalie Rose.

Baby Cakes

And Hit the Road, Jack!

As it was so beastly hot through the valley, we headed straight for Montana de Oro. I figured out that next year will mark the fiftieth year we have been coming here.  We have Super 8 movies of me rocking a boulder in 1962, before it was even a park. Lovely place.

Spooner's CoveOur first cave!

We are spending the night with Mary, in San Luis Obispo.

The Pink Barn

Happy Travelers!

So despite all the negative things people say about California, it is an amazingly beautiful state, and I am constantly awed by its beauty.

Nasturtiums and Hemlock cover the hillsides as well as sticky monkey flower (Mimula).
