…And away we went! We left Battle Creek, Michigan, at 7:00 a.m., and stopped at our first Cracker Barrel on this trip. Here we picked up a few souvenirs and Jim had the “Big” farmers breakfast…yep. Grits. Acc-tui. They give me the heebie-geebies. (sp) Jim didn’t eat them either. But fried apples, biscuits & gravy…well, you know, there aren’t any in California. We drove through Indiana in a downpour, Illinois was as hot as it was humid (read 100 degrees/100%), and St. Louis, Missouri, is sweltering. But good news! It is the home of another of Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins, and/or Dives: Iron Barley. We will be dining there tonight after I get on the exercise machine and Jim and I go for a swim.
